Real St Nicholas
Life Story of Saint Nicholas
The story of Santa Clause, also known as St. Nicholas, dates back to a legend from around 245 A.D. During that time, Nicholas was born in a city near Myra, which is a port in what we now call Turkey. His parents who were very devout and wealthy raised him to love both God and man. At a young age, Nicholas lost his parents to an epidemic. Nicholas received a large inheritance from his parents, and instead of keeping the wealth for himself, he gave it to the needy and sick.
Nicholas becomes a Bishop
Nicholas wanted to dedicate his life to God, so he went away for a while and prayed alone. During this time, he was ordained a priest. Not long after, the Bishop of Myra died, and Nicholas was chosen for this position. His popularity spread throughout the world as his Christian faith was truly revealed. Due to his devotion to God, there were thousands of churches dedicated to him during the Middle Ages. Saint Nicholas was well known for his love for children and his charity. His wealth was used to help poor people, widows, and especially orphans and poor children.
Saint Nicklaus is the German spelling on Saint Nicholas.
